On 21 December, 2001 new privacy provisions came into effect to protect personal privacy. These provisions regulate the way organisations collect, use, keep secure and disclose personal information about individuals involved with the organisation. For the first time, it gives individuals the right to know what information an organisation holds about them and a right to correct that information if it is wrong.

Arthritis NSW has always regarded your information as confidential and we ensure that confidentiality is maintained and your privacy is respected.

All the details of our members, donors and contacts are held on a single computer database at Arthritis NSW. Access to this database is restricted. This information is held to provide a full financial history of the Foundation and to assist with planning fundraising activities. It is a requirement that where we have given a taxation receipt we retain the details for seven years.

Should you decide not to supply full name and address details when making a gift, we are unable to supply you with a taxation receipt.

We take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure and information is stored securely whether in an electronic or physical form.

You can request access at any time to personal information we hold about you. You may ask us at any time to correct personal information held by us about you, which you believe, is incorrect or out of date.
